It\u2019s been just over three months since I joined GLOBESY as a junior consultant. Was it always my dream job? If I said yes, I\u2019d be lying. Not because I didn\u2019t enjoy it or because there was something wrong with the role. <\/p>\n

The problem isn\u2019t that. It\u2019s just hard to call it a dream job when I only found out a few days before sending my CV that such a position even existed. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

No Experience, No Cookies?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I\u2019ll start with a bit of a detour. I began looking for a job right after graduation. IT interested me, and I checked out various offers, but I kept running into requirements for at least one year of experience and ideally a related field of study. <\/p>\n

I met neither requirement. I had a few part-time jobs during school and a degree from a faculty that prepared me for a career in security or protection of people and property. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A Lucky Coincidence<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

I learned about the support consultant role mostly by chance. A friend mentioned that the company was looking for someone for a position that combined helpdesk and other customer requests with testing tasks. <\/p>\n

He said I could give it a try. No work experience was necessary and no previous IT studies were a prerequisite. On the other hand, it was necessary to make up for it with a willingness to learn, an insight into technology and good communication. I said to myself – why not. <\/p>\n

I sent my CV, and a few days later, I met two Katkas in an online interview. One was an HR specialist, and the other became my current team leader. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Learn, Prepare, Present<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

During the interview, it was made clear that I would have to study a lot on my own. And indeed, that\u2019s what happened. During the first days, I walked around the company, got to know my colleagues, and started learning. <\/p>\n

I faced a lot of reading and manuals, but it wasn\u2019t just theory. I had to study an application developed at GLOBESY and prepare test scenarios for it. <\/p>\n

About two months later, I presented this initial assignment to the team. I expected a slightly tense \u201cexam-like\u201d atmosphere, but in the end, it was completely fine. I received a few tips from more experienced colleagues on how to approach things differently and what to focus on in the future. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Where to Go Next?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

While working on the initial assignment, I gradually got exposure to various topics. Under the guidance of my teammates, I began participating in service desks, handling simple incidents, and slowly learning how to conduct training sessions for users. <\/p>\n

Thanks to this, I now better understand what I enjoy and the direction I want to take. Testing is fun, but at a certain stage it shifts toward programming, where I don\u2019t really see myself. <\/p>\n

Consulting, on the other hand, is varied and situations can arise at any time that I would never have thought of. And I enjoy that. Interacting with people, learning new things, solving unexpected problems. That\u2019s the purely consulting direction that I would like to take in the future. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What Surprised Me<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I won\u2019t lie \u2014 at first, it\u2019s a lot to take in. But I\u2019ve met amazing people here, and I like the way things are set up: we\u2019re all colleagues, and everyone helps each other, which isn\u2019t always a given. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s still a lot to learn, but that doesn\u2019t bother me. In fact, I enjoy it, because every new thing moves me forward. Sometimes I\u2019m even surprised at how far someone can progress in a relatively short time. <\/p>\n
